Media & Entertainment

ThinkFim is a Toronto-based independent film distributor operating principally out of the U.S. and Canada. Thinkfilm was acquired by Capitol Films in October 2006.

Founded in 2001 by former Lions Gate Entertainment executives Jeff Sackman, Randy Manis, Marc Hirschberg, Thinkfilm is well-known as an acquirer and distributor of thoughtful, cutting-edge and award-winning feature-length films such as STRANGERS WITH CANDY with Amy Sedaris; SHORTBUS, a racy treatment on single life in New York; FARCE OF THE PENGUINS, as told by Samuel L. Jackson; and the 2005 Academy Award winner BORN INTO BROTHELS, a documentary chronicling children growing up in a Kolkata slum.

Thinkfilm has a current library of over 350 films and a video distribution agreement with Lions Gate (covering its larger films).
